We prepare a detailed itinerary for your garden tour group. Because we specialise  in our local Kent and Sussex area, we have detailed knowledge of the best gardens, countryside routes, villages, pubs and restaurants which regular garden tours often pass by. We keep garden tour groups small so that we can travel on the hidden byways inaccessible to the big coaches. Sissinghurst Castle Garden
England's most romantic garden created by Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicholson in the 1930s from the remains of a moated manor house. Unmissable on any garden tour.

Great Dixter House and Gardens
A traditional Wealden hall House restored by Lutyens who also designed the garden. Vividly planted by the late Christopher Lloyd and now carried on in great style by Head Gardener Fergus Garret.

Marle Place
A little hidden treasure. Wonderful contemporary mosaics and sculptures combined with a traditional garden setting. Unique!

Iden Croft Herb Gardens
A peaceful and relaxed haven just down the road from Sissinghurst. Ancient walled garden mixes informality, healing scents and nature. An extensive range of herbs of all descriptions for sale.

Scotney Castle Garden
Romantic picturesque parkland landscape garden with a stunning moated ruined castle, with more intimate plantings within its walls. The house is now also open to the public

Pashley Manor
Combining roses, contemporary and traditional sculpture, garden rooms and a lake-side landscape this little known garden has a quintessentially English air. Lunch on the terrace is an absolute delight and recommended on all our garden tours.

Merriments Nursery and Garden
A garden of innovation beautifully maintained and bursting with colour. Also in a wild corner, enjoy the birds encouraged by a range of feeders. One of the best nurseries in the south east with a good range of unusual plants.

Hever Castle and Gardens
An eccentric but wonderful landscape garden with lakes and waterfalls, a grotto, rose gardens and an eclectic, slightly bizarre, collection of classical sculptures.

We are pleased to offer our exclusive tours of some of England's finest gardens in Kent and Sussex. Our tours are individually designed for small groups of just two or more garden lovers.

Our Special Garden Tours are expertly but informally guided by David Green, Church Gates owner, Landscape Architect and plantsman. There is limited availability on our Special Garden Tours so early booking is recommended.

Regular Garden Tours are hosted by Joseph Taylor, co-owner of Church Gates, retired teacher, artist-photographer and international traveller. Joe’s Regular Garden Tours represent excellent value for money - plus David is usually on hand in the evenings to enlighten on those tricky plant identifications! and garden queries!
